Innovation and Quality Awards

On Wednesday 1st November, the team picked up Innovator of the Year at the Small British Business Awards for disrupting the brewing industry with our sustainably brewed bread beer concept; we were then named the Best Small Producer at the Quality Drinks Awards on the following evening, a reflection of the quality taste of our beers.

The British Small Business Awards is a celebration of the £1.9 billion strong small business sector – the “engine room” of the UK economy. We were nominated alongside a huge range of businesses – from dog food to propulsion systems for space launchers. The category was full of businesses that are challenging and changing their industries.

The Quality Food Awards recognises and rewards quality across a range of producers, wholesalers and retailers across the food industry. The Best Small Producer category, sponsored by Co-op, is an opportunity for smaller businesses to showcase their product ranges. The rigorous judging process culminated with a pop up style tasting session at Co-op’s HQ where shortlisted businesses sampled their products with Co-op buyers.

We honestly couldn’t be prouder. Team Toast has worked exceptionally hard to spread the word that the alternative to food waste is pint-sized and delicious. These awards reflect that hard work and the collaborative approach we take to kick-start a revALEution in the brewing industry.

There are many brewers, bakers and drinkers that have joined us on this journey so far, helping us to upcycle nearly 1 million slices of bread that would otherwise have gone to waste. We’re sharing a Toast with them. Here’s to upcycling the next 1 million.
