Toast X Co-op Collaboration

20th July 2022

Co-op Collab

We’ve launched a new Hazy Pale Ale, exclusively available in a 4-Pack at Co-op stores. This is a special collaboration beer, brewed with surplus bread from Co-op’s bakery suppliers.

Our beers have been on Co-op’s shelves since 2019. We even worked with them and Social Enterprise UK on a #BuySocial campaign - we brought Martin Sheen to life on special-editions of our Lager and Session IPA cans!

Now we’re rising to the challenge of giving Co-op shoppers a more sustainable beer choice.

“We are really happy to be landing the new and exclusive Toast Hazy Pale Ale at Co-op and with sustainability at its heart, is the perfect fit for us and our customers. We worked with our suppliers to use their surplus bread, resulting in significant waste being reduced. This Pale Ale is packed full of flavour, and tastes all the better with the knowledge it’s helping the planet too. We can’t wait for our customers to try this unique brew and we expect it to be a popular choice this summer and beyond”. Jonathan Price, Beer Buyer at Co-op

We chose a Hazy Pale Ale style with customer feedback on our Rise Up series. If you told us you’re thirsty for a juicy, planet-saving beer, then this one's for you.

The Hazy Pale Ale delivers aromas of passionfruit, peach and pineapple. There’s a silky-smooth bitterness, and the late kettle hops deliver a palate-pleasing mix of mango, orange, lychee and floral notes.

The haziness of the beer comes from part-filtering in the final stages of production. As well as contributing to the juicy appearance, this technique leaves behind more flavour and aroma in the beer.

At a sessionable 4% alcohol content, it’s the perfect sustainable beer for lazy-hazy days of summer. Sup it solo or team with crisp, bright produce like English peas, asparagus and artichokes to complement the mouthfeel and soft yet bright pop of the hops.

It’s been great to work with the Co-op and their suppliers to increase our environmental impact, creating this beer using over half a tonne of surplus bread. We hope it will inspire other retailers to do more to prevent food waste.

The Hazy Pale Ale 4-Pack (4 x 330ml cans) will be available at the Co-op stores listed below from 20th July (RRP £7).  And will be rolled out to more Co-op stores soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Cheers!
