Toast Ale X Hale Brewing

Toast Ale X Hale Brewing

Our Partnership Manager, Chris, got involved with Hale Brewing earlier this year and immediately loved their set-up – the small batch brewery is inside a shipping container in Tottenham. Mark Hislop and Dan Price are the driving force behind the brews, and their beer is pretty damn delicious. So we’ve been pretty excited about this collab.

Hale brewery worked with our recipe, combining surplus artisanal bread from Today Bread in neighbouring Walthamstow with different malts to create the new beer: Sourdough Pale. It blends the classic Toast Ale taste with the creativity of the brewers at Hale Brewing.

The brew was great fun, but not without a few challenges. Overcoming the bread stuck in the mash tun inspired us to call this beer ‘GFP: Gluten for Punishment’. It’s a Sourdough Pale Ale, a 4% raw beer, brewed with a pale malts. It’s rich, creamy with an exceptional head retention, and full of flavour with spicy and piney aromas.

On Saturday 4th August, Team Toast headed back to Tottenham for the first pour with a gang of guests. It tastes fantastic! We threw a party with guests and regulars to celebrate the launch, taking over the taps with the new beer and our Born and Bread American Pale Ale. We fired up the BBQ in the afternoon and enjoyed delicious foods with the great tasting beers.

5% of sales from the collaboration will go to Feedback, an environmental charity that campaigns to improve the food system and end food waste.

Though the launch party is over, there’s still time to taste our Sourdough Pale collaboration beer. Get down to Five Miles London (39B Markfield Road, London, N15 4QA) quickly, tag us on social @toastale and rate the beer on Untappd. Doing your bit has never been so refreshing!
