Toast x Camerons (and why we love Leeds)

8th November 2018

Toast x Camerons

In the latest in a line of recent collaborations, we’ve teamed up with Leeds Brewery owner, Camerons. We’ll be launching Stottie, a German style Dunkel Hefeweizen, at The Head of Steam craft beer bar in Leeds on the 16th November.

Stottie was brewed with rescued surplus bread from sandwich manufacturer Adelie Foods, which replaces one third of the malts to brew a the German style wheat beer. We’re also bringing the beer style to life through a limited edition “Brotwurst” (bread sausage). We’ve joined up with Yorkshire charcuterie specialist, The Cure, to make a bespoke batch of German style, smoked IPA Beer salami, with ingredients marinated in Toast’s Bloomin’ Lovely Session IPA. The “beer stick” will also be served to customers at the launch event, with all profits donated to charity.

This year we chose Leeds as our expansion epicentre in the North of England. Not only were we seduced by the diversity of the craft beer scene in the city, with more than ten craft breweries in the city,  but our core range of beers are brewed in Yorkshire – it is, quite literally, close to our heart. We’re now ranged in more than 30 bars, cafes and shops, including all Cameron venues, and are humbled by the support for our beers.

The Head of Steam was one of the first venues in Leeds to champion our beers, so it was only natural that the national launch for our kegged collab beer should take place here, celebrating the local solutions to tackle bread waste.

Yousef Doubooni is head of marketing at Camerons. Talking to local journalists, he said: ‘We started working with the team from Toast earlier this year by introducing their bottled beers into our managed pub estate. We really liked their beer concept and we felt it fit perfectly with the ethos in our The Head of Steam pubs. During this time, we have been working on a collaboration brew with them and it is great to see our Stottie beer come to fruition from this’.
